An unidentified woman on Tuesday stripped naked outside President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Harambee House office.

The woman was protesting against the high cost of living after the head of state signed into law the Finance Bill 2018.

The woman reportedly asked to see the President who is away in New York and the leader of majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale.

In a picture that has since gone viral on social media, the woman is seen standing between three police officers manning the main entry to Harambee House.

It is said that she had threatened to storm the offices.

President Kenyatta signed the controversial bill on September 21 which after taking effect, cashless/mobile money transfers excise duty increased from 12 per cent to 20 per cent. Kerosene users were also hard hit as an adulteration fees at the rate of Sh18 per litre was introduced on all illuminating kerosene imported into the country for home use in a move that pushed the commodity’s retail price much closer to diesel.

Telephone and internet data services excise duty was set at 15 per cent of excisable value up from 10 per cent.

The President did however assure Kenyans that he will ensure proper utilization of public resources for a better Kenya and will not relent in his fight against corruption.
