A journalist with the Nation Media Group has reportedly lost Sh3 million in a fake car deal with a local businessman.

James Onyango, a Daily Nation sub-editor based Nairobi, is said to have lost the money to hotelier Emmanuel Mulobi Musebe.

Reports indicate Musebe fraudulently obtained the money in exchange for a Range Rover registration number KBU 220Q, but failed to produce the car as agreed.

The fraud prompted the journalist to report the matter to the police leading to the arrest of Musebe.

The accused was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi on Monday April 8 where he was charged with intent to defraud Sh3.2 million from Onyango by false pretense.

He was released on a Sh2 million bond with a surety of the same amount or a cash bail of Ksh 500,000.

The case is set to be mentioned on April 23.
