Suspended Homeboyz Radio presenter has eaten his words over insensitive remarks on slain sixth-year Moi University Medical student Ivy Wangechi.

Didge, the Mtaani Show host, took to his Instagram page to pen down an apology to his fans.

He acknowledged that his statement was in a bad taste and provocative.

“After careful revision of the said show, we made some remarks that were provocative and seemingly tasteless on a very sensitive subject matter, having said that, I am also deeply sorry to anyone who might have been hurt by these comments,” he said.

Didge, during his Tuesday night show with his co-host Katiwa, noted that the deceased was killed because she was disloyal to her killer.

He went ahead to make fun about the cold blood murder.

“If you date a butcher then he will slaughter you and if you date a driver he will strangle you using a seatbelt,” he said.

The comments didn’t augur well with some of his fans who criticized him on social media, forcing the management to issue an apology followed by his suspension.

Ms Wangechi’s killing on Tuesday by a man identified as Naftali Njahi Kinuthia has elicited mixed reactions on social media.

Kinuthia, an employee of betting firm SportPesa, hacked Ms Wangechi to death in broad daylight at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) where she was taking her practicals.

On Wednesday, Kinuthia revealed to the authorities that frequent heartbreaks by the woman he loved led him to commit the crime.

Kinuthia, disclosed to Eldoret East DCI boss, Ali Kingi, that he had invested his money, time and feelings to the woman, who didn’t reciprocate the love.

In the recent incident, Kinuthia claimed he sent Ms wangeci some money – to organize for a birthday party – but the lass went mum, prompting him to travel from Thika town to Eldoret to seek answers.

“The accused said he used to send the woman some money. The girl, according to the suspect, had told him that she was organising her birthday party, which would happen soon. He said he sent her some money to arrange the event. Since then, the woman refused to pick his calls, said the suspect. That is what prompted him to travel [from Thika] to Eldoret. He said he wanted to know why she was ignoring him,” Eldoret East DCI boss Mr Kingi told a local media outlet.

He claimed constant rejection by the woman, angered him, leading to the Tuesday killing, when he hacked her to death with an axe before slithering her throat.

He’s still nursing injuries at MTRH, after boda boda riders attempted to lynch him following the killing.

Both Wangechi and Kinuthia’s families have acknowledged that the two were childhood friends, however, what pushed Kinuthia to commit the heinous act remains a mystery to them.

Investigators are in the process of interrogating Kinuthia. Authorities revealed on Wednesday that he will be arraigned soon.
