Kikuyu Member of Parliament (MP) Kimani Ichung’wa has expressed that he is living in fear after allegedly receiving numerous death threats.
According to the legislator, he has been receiving those threats from unknown people for some time now and has since reported the matter to the Inspector General of Police.
Sharing with the media, the MP released a thirty second clip of a man sending a stern warning to Ichung’wa over his continuous support to the Deputy President William Ruto.
“I am telling you this…stop auctioning the Kikuyu community. You can die very easily. Let us see you again one day with Ruto you will face the consequences,” the man in the clip heard by The Standard warned.
The outspoken lawmaker further lamented that despite having reported the matter to the police, there is no one who has since been arrested in connection with the threats.
An official from the office of the IG mentioned that the authorities are aware of the matter and are currently investigating it.

Mr Peter Thuku, from IG’s office, stated: ““We confirm that action is being taken and we shall keep you posted on the progress.”
These comes barely a week since the MP’s security detail were withdrawn by the government.
This, Ichung’wa notes, is a move that seeks to intimidate him so that he can cease supporting the Deputy President.
He further revealed that he speculates that the people behind his threats are sponsors of the ‘stop Ruto movement’.
He exclaimed: “I see the withdrawal of my security as a political move to intimidate and coerce me following threats even to my life to stop working with DP Ruto. Only God knows what they intend to do either to my family or to myself.”
Police spokesman Charles Owino however exonerated the government from blame over the withdrawal of the leaders’ security saying it is in line with the police transformation agenda launched last September.
