Governor Alfred Mutua is likely to face citizen’s arrest to be organised by former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama over graft claims.

According to the former Senator, Mutua has been involved in ‘massive corruption’ and should be held accountable for his dealings.

Muthama has consequently called on the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to arrest the county boss, failure to which he will organize citizen’s arrest for Mutua.

The former senator further mentioned that the second-time county chief has been involved in corruption as he has allegedly been allocating funds towards many projects but with ‘nothing to show on the ground.’

He also stated that he has evidence to prove his allegations against Mutua that he is willing to submit to the EACC as well as the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Last year, President Uhuru Kenyatta asked Kenyans to be vigilant in the war against corruption and if necessary carry out citizen’s arrest of people involved in graft.

The head of state stated: “”Whether it’s a police officer, MCA or an MP any other leader, carry out a citizen’s arrest and hand them into the police.

“Nobody should intimidate you in this war just because they have a lot of money. If you successfully carry out the arrests, the wealth they own illegally will be repatriated to the public kitty,” he added.

According to the Kenyan constitution, citizens are rightfully allowed to carry out an arrest against any person and hand them over to the local authorities.
