    Anyang’ Nyong’o Apologizes To Raila Over Chaotic Protests In His Backyard

    Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o has apologized to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga following an incident that happened earlier on in the week that saw the opposition leader heckled.

    In a statement issued on Wednesday, Nyong’o harshly condemned the heckling of the youth terming it as a disgrace.

    He added that the people who caused the chaos are enemies of development.

    Nyong’o mentioned: “It is regrettable that a small band of engineered naysayers who have deliberately decided to resist development in the county as a whole purely for political mileage decided to embarrass our guests.

    “We shall not be deterred from continuing with changing Kisumu’s economy for the better to please a few visionless people,” the Kisumu boss stated.

    He went ahead to assert that his county residents were looking forward to the development projects that were being announced by Raila.

    At the time of Mr Odinga’s visit to Muhoroni, the Kisumu Governor was on a trip to Denmark.

    Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo, who was present during the event, had earlier stated that the chaos were caused by around seven men who were quickly neutralized.

    “They protested that the land, 500-acres, which would be set aside for economic use, was their ancestral land that had been reverted to the defunct Kisumu Municipal Council after they were moved due to constant flooding. They want historical compensation for the land,” he stated.

    Muhoroni MP Onyango K’Oyoo who was in Botswana during Raila’s visit to his constituency also condemned the action asserting that it was uncalled for.

    Odinga was on Monday heckled at during his visit to Muhoroni after some residents held protests during his speech.

    Raila was in the region to propose special economic zone site in Ombeyi, Muhoroni, a project which the residents are against.
