Garissa town MP Aden Duale has said NASA should call off their Tuesday rally to a later dayterming it as “no big deal.”

Duale argued that they (NASA) were trying to sabotage the swearing in ceremony and that the “dead could be mourned on any other day apart from Tuesday”.

He added that Kenyatta’s swearing in date was constitutional an wondered why NASA must hold a memorial for departed supporters on same day.

Suba MP John Mbadi however downplayed Duale’s calls saying ”We have been clear, we will not be part of the swearing in on Tuesday. Why should Jubilee be concerned with our Tuesday meeting in Jacaranda? Jubilee cannot be the ones to determine what is a big deal for NASA. We have a right to assemble and police should provide security,” Mbadi said.

The two were speaking during an interview on Citizen TV.

Mbadi insisted that the opposition will not recognize President Uhuru Kenyatta’s legitimacy in office even if he’s sworn in on Tuesday, November 28 and reiterated that the Opposition will be holding a rally at Jacaranda grounds, Embakasi East parallel to Kenyatta’s inauguration at the Kasarani stadium.

The ODM Chairman also said the police should provide security for the opposition supporters who will show up to mourn victims of police brutality on the said day. He argued that the area OCS, had received notice of assembly but Nairobi Police Commander, Japheth Koome denied the claims.

The two MPs however concurred that there was dire need to unite the country urging leaders from both divides to talk to each other instead of throwing jabs at each other every now and then.

NASA are up to no good. Why can’t they alter the mourning day to Wednesday or Thursday since the burial will be over the weekend. @HusseinMohamedg #SundayLive @citizentvkenya

NASA has maintained that Raila Odinga won the August 8 election which was later nullified. Odinga, they say is the People’s President.

On Saturday, the opposition asked its members in both the senate and national assembly to not participate in the vetting of various nominees that might be forwarded to Parliament by the President.

Defending the government, Duale said that Kenyatta was going to reconcile the country after taking his oath of office alongside his Deputy, William Ruto.

The government, he said will deliver its transformation agenda, make sure there is equity in delivery of resources.

He also insisted that Uhuru was elected in accordance with the law, having surpassed the 50+1 threshold.
