Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi rejects 10-Point Agenda Committee Report, promises “Truth Report” on failures

The Linda Mwananchi leadership rejected the report released by the Committee Overseeing the Implementation of the Ten-Point Agenda, describing it as misleading, unconstitutional, and an attempt to hoodwink the public.

In a statement, the leadership led by Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna criticized the committee for failing to release its final comprehensive report to Kenyans on the scheduled date of March 7, 2026, coinciding with the expiry of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the late Raila Odinga and President William Ruto.

Instead, the report was reportedly shared with a select few individuals, sparking accusations of secrecy and lack of transparency.

According to the Linda Mwananchi leaders, the committee’s mandate was strictly limited in time and scope.

Members were expected to submit progress reports every two months, culminating in a final report on March 7, 2026.

However, the leadership claims that the committee overstepped its mandate by attempting to extend its operations by 60 days, a move described as “ultra vires, unconstitutional, null, and void.”

The leadership further argued that the ODM Parliamentary Group, which purportedly authorized the extension, lacks powers under the party constitution to make such decisions.

The statement highlighted several areas where the government and committee allegedly failed to implement the MoU.

On security, they argued, abductions and extrajudicial killings have continued unabated.

On funding, they added, counties have not received the pledged Sh450 billion for the current financial year while on political party rights, they added, the MoU’s pledge to respect the identity and integrity of political parties has not been honored.

The leadership condemned the committee for its late-stage public engagement tours, arguing that the focus should have been on seeking answers directly from State House rather than conducting nationwide public consultations as a formality.

In response, the Linda Mwananchi leadership announced it will release a “truth report” detailing the failures in the implementation of each of the ten agenda items, aiming to provide transparency and hold the government accountable.

“The decline in national values, as enshrined in the preamble of our constitution, cannot be cured with short-term painkillers. The nation must confront these failures,” the statement read.

The leadership described the committee’s actions as a shameful charade, noting that confusion was visible during a meeting at the KICC, where Governor Mbarire and other attendees openly challenged the contents of the report.

The statement concluded with a rallying call to Kenyans: “Bado mapambano”, signaling that the struggle for accountability, transparency, and true implementation of the Ten-Point Agenda continues.

The release of the Linda Mwananchi “truth report” is expected to intensify public scrutiny of the government’s commitments and may reshape debates around the political legacy of the late Raila Odinga.
