Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition ousted Junet Mohamed as the Leader of its Parliamentary Group in the National Assembly and appointed Suba South MP Caroli Omondi as his replacement with immediate effect.

In a statement issued on Monday, Azimio coalition leader Kalonzo Musyoka said a joint meeting of the Coalition Council and the National Coalition Executive Council also resolved that a number of members had ceased to be part of the coalition’s top organs after joining competing political coalitions and/or being appointed to public office.

The statement said Mining Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho, Nominated MP Sabina Chege, Abdi Noor Omar Farah and Junet Mohamed had ceased to be members of the Azimio Coalition Council, while those listed as having ceased to be members of the Azimio National Coalition Executive Council include Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, Adan Keynan Wehliye, David Pkosing, Mishi Mboko, Abdul Haji, Junet Mohamed, James Opiyo Wandayi, Isabella Wangechi Githinji, Caroline Wanjiru Karugu and Solomon Kuria.

Azimio said it will soon announce replacements as part of an expanded coalition party.

“The Meeting further resolved to terminate with immediate effect the appointment of Junet Mohamed as the Leader of the Azimio Coalition Parlamentary Group and in the National Assembly and appointed Carol Omondi to be the Leader of the Azimio Coaltion Party Parliamentary Group and in the National Assembly with immediate effect.”

The move is likely to trigger a new political supremacy in the House.
