    Siblings

Amanda has one sibling, a younger sister named Deborah Lucy Holden, commonly known as Debbie.

Born in 1972, Debbie is just one year younger than Amanda, and the two share a close bond despite leading very different lives.

The sisters grew up together in a challenging family environment, including dealing with their father’s struggles with alcohol dependency, which strengthened their relationship.

Debbie has largely stayed out of the public eye compared to her famous sister, pursuing an adventurous lifestyle that includes working as a diving instructor in Thailand.

She has faced significant personal challenges, such as surviving a car crash in Cornwall that left her in intensive care, enduring the Nepal earthquake, and even a near-death experience near Mount Everest.

    Career

Holden’s career spans acting, theater, television presenting, singing, and media work. She trained at Mountview Theatre School in London and began her professional journey in the early 1990s.

She gained prominence with parts in series such as Cutting It, where she played Mia Bevan, and Wild at Heart, portraying Sarah Trevanion.

On stage, Holden starred in musicals including Thoroughly Modern Millie in the West End, where she took the lead role, and later Shrek The Musical as Princess Fiona.

Her theater work earned her recognition in the industry.

Since 2007, her role as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent has defined much of her public image, making her the longest-serving judge on the program and contributing to its massive success.

In addition, she has co-hosted Heart Breakfast on radio and released music, including albums that showcase her vocal talents.

Holden has also ventured into writing and producing, while maintaining a strong presence in entertainment through her multifaceted career.

    Accolades

Holden was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in Thoroughly Modern Millie in 2004.

She won the WhatsOnStage.com Theatregoers’ Choice Award for Best Actress in a Musical for the same role.

Other recognitions include a nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series at the Golden Nymph Awards for Wild at Heart.

In 2019, she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the UK’s arts industry.

Holden has also been honored with awards such as Attitude’s Honorary Gay Award and has been celebrated for her philanthropy, including her work hosting the RSPCA Animal Hero Awards since 2013.
