A second batch of about 12 Gor Mahia players are yet to leave the country ahead of their Caf Confederation Cup quarter-finals return match against RS Berkane of Morocco on Sunday. Rugby Africa (RA) has called off this year’s Gold Cup tournament owing to financial constraints. A statement from RA revealed that they have cancelled the tournament after the premature termination of RA and Kwese Sports contract which has left a huge gap in the 2019 budget. Harambee Stars players who qualified the national team for this year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt have received the Ksh50 million bonus pledge from the government. Through the Deputy President William Ruto, the government committed to part with the amount as a motivation to the players if they made it to the continental showpiece for the first time in 15 years, a feat they achieved.
