Presbyterian University has been forced to shut down its Nairobi city campus due to tough rule set by the Commission of University Education (CUE). Vice Chancellor Mr. Mungania said that the university was unable to meet the standards set for setting up a campus in Nairobi. He however stated that the affected students have already been transferred to the main campus in Kikuyu. This comes after the council of legal Education said that it is recalling law degrees from Makerere University stating that the students ought to produce verified documentation. Fuel costs are set to go up according to the Energy Regulatory commission.The increase will roll out from September 15 and run up until October 14. The prices are a consequence of the average landed price of the Super Petrol increasing from Ksh. 521.70 to Ksh,560.40 which is a 7.48% increase and Diesel up from Ksh.472.24 to Ksh.479.21 an increase by 1.48%. Lorry Driver Shadrack Nzomo Musyomi was arraigned in court for obstructing the DP William Ruto’s motorcade by blocking the road. The incident happened at the Vota junction in Machakos at the Nairobi-Mombasa highway. He was charged under section 53(1) as read with section 53(4) of the traffic Act where he failed to obey verbal instructions and obstruction. The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has said that it has identified 24 officials of the IEBC that will be charged following the nullification of the August 8 elections. Dorcas Odour, Secretary of Public Prosecution did not disclose whether the officials identified are directly linked to the supreme court ruling. Former Nairobi Woman Representative, Rachel Shebesh is mourning the death of her father Samuel Wainana Mbugua. He was the Mayor for Nairobi between 1998 and 1999. Members of the public have been asked to report any complaints. A form four Orero Secondary School student in HomaBay county has been arrested for being in possession of a gun. The student is said to have been showing off the illegal pistol to his colleagues who alerted the school principal. Confirming the incident was Homabay police boss Esau Ochorokodi saying that it took a two hour interrogation for the student to finally disclose the whereabouts of the American pistol.
