A petition has been circulated by over 250 voters who want their names expunged from the IEBC voter register. The petition was initiated by Harrison Mumia, an activist with Atheists in Kenya. A number of those who signed expressed dissatisfaction with the polls. The petitioners said that the elections were not a true reflection of the aspirations of Kenyans. Harrison says that they are persuaded that the events before, during and after the elections raised too many questions therefore making the voters feel the need to have their names removed from the IEBC register. A man in Nyandarua county took his life after governor Joshua Irungu lost his gubernatorial seat.The man’s lifeless body was found in Leshau trading centre. Nyandarua North officer commanding Division confirmed the incident saying the man left a suicide note explaining the reason behind his suicide. The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) has announced pay cuts for IEBC commissioners just days after the general elections. Sarah Serem said that the commissioners will be paid Sh.747,621 from Sh.765,188 per month. The changes will also affect the office of the DPP and all constitutional commissions. Members of the commissions and and vice chair persons will receive a salary of Sh. 621,250 instead of Sh.650,000 per month. Longton Jamil, an administrator of a popular Whatsapp group was arrested in Kitengela, Kajiado for sharing fake news. Kajiado county commissioner has confirmed the incident saying Jamil was detained at the Isinya Police station. The commission has noted through their Human Rights monitors the use of Live bullets and excessive force on protesters in Kisumu, Migori, Siaya, Mathare and Huruma. NASA has refused to be part of the IEBC presidential announcement that is due take place at the Bomas of Kenya. According to their chief agent and his deputy, the grievances that they raised earlier were duly ignored.
