President Kenyatta has appointed a tribunal as recommended by the Judicial Service Commission to conduct probe on Justice Jacktone Ojwang. The tribunal will be chaired by Justice Alnashir Visram, other members include Festus Azangalala, Ambrose Weda, Andrew Bahati Mwamuye, Lucy Kambuni, Sylvia Wanjiku Muchiri and Amina Abdalla. The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has unveiled the alternative bags that they expect Kenyans to use after banning the use of non woven bags for not being environmentally friendly. The director general Professor Geoffrey Wahungu said that newly approved bags made from sisal, cotton, reeds as well as certain types of hard plastic. “These bags are made from recycled paper. We can plant wood lots for paper and use that if we need, there’s no problem,” Prof Wahungu said The ban took effect on April 1. President Uhuru Kenyatta has revealed that the trial exercise for the Huduma police revealed that close to 5000 ghost police officers. According to him the government has been paying over 5000 ghost officers, losing Sh1.8 billion annually. He said that there were 1437 Regular police, 1048 Administration police and 153 within the DCIunitee who had been receiving salaries but failed to register themselves to get the Huduma namba. Rowdy youth in Ugenya on Sunday stoned the convoy of Siaya senator James Orengo as he led the campaign train of Chris Karan.The raid left 11 cars damaged during as the rowdy crowd threw stones at the convoy. Casual workers working in Kilifi county are complaining that the motion to have them terminated from their employment. They held demonstrations in Malindi to protest the motion moved by Kaya Fungo MCA Alphonse Mwayaa. The motion sort to terminate the casuals to attempt to reduce the ballooning wage bill which the MCA said was too much for the county. The youth wanted the motion dismissed because it would interfere with their livelihoods as the county was not absorbing them into permanent jobs. A woman in Machakos abandoned five of her children in courts in protest of a decision in a land matter. Esther Muendi had allegedly obtained orders in the Machakos court in a land dispute against Mutei Kioko. Kioko however moved to a court in Nairobi and obtained stay orders against Muendi. Vihiga county will splash a whooping Sh103 Million to build a palatial home for the governor Wilber Ottichilo. His deputy governor’ house will cost Sh 55 million bring the cost of both houses to Sh. 158 million.
