The High court has postponed the ruling which activists had petitioned  for the repealing  of  section 162 of the penal code. The court said that they were unable to constitute the three judge bench. Justice Chacha Mwita said that they were unable to make a decision as they had to go through volumes of documents which were presented manually. The court asked the petitioners to allow them to sit through April and make a decision in May.  Christian and Muslim organizations opposed the petition. The ruling will be delivered on May 24. The Kenya National Commission of Human rights has asked the police to offer security to Sexual Orientation Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) community ahead of the landmark ruling on Friday. The ruling will be made by Justices Roselyne Aburili, Chacha Mwita and John Mativo The National gay and lesbian rights commission through Eric Gitari had filed a suit to declare  section 162 and 165 of the penal code unconstitutional. Nominated MCA Mary Njambi has been suspended for 10 days from the Nairobi County Assembly over misconduct. She was suspended alongside two other MCAs  for being behind the chaos that took place at City Hall as they tried to forcefully evict former speaker Beatrice Elachi out of her office. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission ( IEBC)  has said that there is no money to verify the signatures collected by the Punguza Mzigo Referendum campaign by Dr Ekuru Aukot. A 30 year old man has been positively identified by the victims that were sexually assaulted in Kericho. Senior Counsel Ahmednassir Abdullahi appearing on Citizen Tv Jeff Koinange Live said that he would file a petition in two weeks  to expose the corrupt judges of the Supreme Court. The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) are looking for two men who have been seen in a video encouraging a toddler to smoke bhang. Through their twitter handle the DCI have launched a manhunt asking the general public to help them identify and find the two men. Diamond Trust Bank Eastleigh Branch manager Sophia Mbogo has been charged with aiding the Dusit D2 terror attack . The court said that she failed to flag suspicious transactions amounting to Sh. 34million shillings. The National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Uganda has endorsed Yoweri Museveni to run for his sixth term as the President of Uganda. The party settled for Museveni as its candidate for the 2021 after the Constitutional court in Uganda removed the presidential age limit which was place at 75. Police in Kapenguria have intercepted 28 refugees en route to Nairobi without proper documentation. They arrested 23 Somalis, two Sudanese and three juveniles at Tartar junction roadblock along the Lodwar-Kitale highway. The 28 refugees lacked clearance certificates from the camp allowing them to move away from the restricted area. They were arrested after a tip off from members of the public. The Kenya Human Rights Commission(KHRC) has moved to court to stop the  single identification platform the National Integrated Identity Management Systems(Niims). According to the KHRC the NIIMS was sneaked into effect through Miscellanous Amendment Act 2018 that amended the Registration of Persons Act. This did not provide for public involvement in the process despite the substantial effect it will have on the lives of Kenyans . The former Nairobi county Education CEC Janet Ouko has instituted a suit against Nairobi governor Mike Sonko for defamation. The former CEC said in the plaint that the governor implicated her in the loss of Sh357 million through a press conference which was held in Mombasa. She said that that the governor on his own admission said that the money had been withdrawn by one Mr Omondi between the years 2013 and 2018. Resident Magistrate Muthoni Nzibe has handed Boniface Murage a three month suspended sentence after his bill at the Kenyatta National Hospital had been settled. The court gave him a suspended sentence which means that he would not go to prison immediately but would be under state scrutiny to ensure that he does not commit an offense. The Kenya men’s National basketball team made history for the first time playing an international friendly in Kigali Rwanda. The body of Dandora activist Caroline Mwatha has been found at the city mortuary. The activist who was well known for documenting extra judicial killings in Dandora had gone missing February 6. Her husband Joshua Ochieng said that they had communicated as usual last week on whats app. He said that he had attempted to call her mobile phone which someone picked but did not speak.
