A 37 year old Ugandan woman is the first person to be found guilty of performing female genital mutilation (FGM) on her daughter in the UK. The Crown Prosecution Service told the jury that spells and curses paraphernalia intended to stop her from being arrested were also found in her home. The Ugandan born woman is said to have also coached her daughter to lie so that she would not be arrested. Controversial ‘Prophet’ Shepherd Bushiri  of the Enlightened Christian Gathering Church (ECG) has been arrested in Rustenberg South Africa. The prophet and his wife were arrested in a hotel in South Africa. Kiss 100 morning show presenter Adelle Onyango has allegedly resigned from the station. The sassy radio show who hosts the show with Shaffie Weru is said to be joining an NGO after launching her own initiative. Warrant of arrest issued earlier today against Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter lifted after he presented himself to court. Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi had issued the warrant after the legislator failed to show up to court for mention. Justice Helen Wasilwa has allowed an injunction order by Patrick Kondo a former executive at Kenol-Kobil that could prevent the signing of the takeover agreement between the oil marketer and the French company Rubies Energies SAS. He claims that he was unfairly terminated from the oil marketing company and is seeking compensation amounting to Sh26.8 Million. The government has suspended the directive to have car free days on Wednesday and Saturday for a further two weeks . Transport CS James Macharia had said that the new directive would take effect on February 1. The directive has been suspended to allow the vetting of hawkers who will be allowed in the CBD  and also to enhance security on those days. Tension and a strike is looming at the prestigious Makini school after staff have complained of ill treatment by the new board of directors which is predominantly white. A section of the staff has revealed to Kahawa Tungu that they their salaries were last reviewed five years ago when Dr Mary Okello was at the helm of the institution. Lydia Achieng’ recently appeared on Inooro TV telling her ten year incarceration story for a crime she did not commit. An emotional Achieng’ said that she had not committed any sexual offence against a teenage boy as alleged and that all her youth had been spent languishing in Lang’ata women’s prison. Legendary jazz musician Oliver Mtukudzi has passed on at Avenues Clinic in Harare. The African legend who had 58 albums to his name passed on on Wednesday afternoon after a short illness. The 66-year-old musician, nicknamed Tuku, had been struggling with his health for over a month. The family of the singer is yet to release a statement confirming the death but a close family member disclosed of Mtukudzi’s death to Newsday.
