Businessman Prafur Kumar has been released on a cash bail of Sh.1 million after being charged for attempting to bribe Nairbi governor Mike Sonko. The businessman denied the charges of trying to bribe the Nairobi governor with Sh.1 million to allow him to construct the Manor Hotel in Gigiri. He denied all three counts of attempting to give a bribe. The prosecution had asked that he be denied bail and remanded pending investigation. The case will be heard on September 26. The office of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has issued warrants of arrest for the directors of companies that are suspected to be behind the theft of Kenya power property recovered at Ruiru. In a tweet the DCI named  the nine suspects and asked the general public who might know them to tell them to report to the anti corruption court at the Milimani law courts or the DCI’s office. Police had impounded a vehicle ferrying material purported to belong to Kenya Power valued at  Sh20 million at a house in Ruiru. Roselinder Atwoli has filed a complaint against COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli whom she claims forcibly threw her and her 13 year old son out of their Kileleshwa home. Tanzanian bank National Microfinance Bank (NMB) which was formerly a micro finance bank has publicly paraded former employees who took loans and have defaulted. According to the notice the bank had issued several notices which the employees failed to honour. NMB claims that the ex staff members had refused to pay even after they were constantly notified that they should pay. The Tanzanian bank has therefore given the employees 14 days to repay the outstanding loan. A Kenyan motorist has exposed a possible cartel between courts and the police that encourages motorists to pay bribes when caught with traffic offenses. In his narration he stated that the magistrates give hefty fines with a jail term option to minor traffic offenses such as touting.
