Safaricom staff members have donated foodstuff worth over Sh4 million to more than 2,500 needy households across the country. The donation is part of a staff initiative that saw Safaricom employees come together to contribute over Sh2 million to help vulnerable families affected by COVID-19. The amount raised was then matched by Safaricom Foundation which gave an additional Sh2 million. Troubled Tuskys Supermarket owes suppliers a whopping Sh6.2 billion. In a letter to the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK), the cash-strapped retailer says it will settle 40 percent of the debt over a period of 8 months and two years. “Total trade supplier debt is Sh6.2 billion. As at August 6, 2020, 40 percent of this supplier debt has been rescheduled and the respective suppliers have signed individual agreements to reschedule the debt to periods between eight months and 24 months,” Tuskys said. Former Garsen MP Danson Mungatana has been arrested in Nairobi. The ex lawmaker is said to have been apprehended at Sagret Hotel for obtaining money by false pretences. Churches have been open now for a little over a month since the Coronavirus pandemic hit Kenya. The National Business Compact on COVID- 19 (NBCC) has partnered with Nestlé Kenya and the Rotary International District 9212 to enable hygiene practices within the prisons in Nairobi in a bid to curb the spread of the novel COVID-19. Kenya has in the last 24 hours recorded 492 new Coronavirus infections, pushing the toll to 26,928. Addressing the media from Kericho, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that 4,063 samples were tested in the last day. Cumulatively, Kenya has carried out 398,330 tests since the first case of Coronavirus was confirmed mid-March. Of the new cases, 478 were Kenyan nationals while 14 were foreigners aged between 11 months and 83 years. Gender-wise, the newly detected cases were of 331 males and 161 females. 534 patients have recovered from the disease; 478 from home-based care program and 56 from various hospitals.…

Kenya’s virus load is at 25,837 after 699 persons tested positive for the novel COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The newly detected infections were from a 7,175 sample size. Of the new cases, 675 are Kenyans while 24 are foreigners. 427 of them were males while 272 were females. They are aged between the tender age of 1 and 85 years.
