There was drama during the BBI consultative forum held at Kitui Stadium, Kitui county after Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria was ejected from the VIP dais. Kuria who arrived much later accompanied by Senate majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen was involved in a scuffle after he missed a seat at the podium. An early morning inferno has left Gikomba market traders in agony after property of unknown value was reduced to ashes. The fire razed a couple of shoe and apparel stalls but no casualties have been reported. The United States will no longer allow Dares Salaam Regional Commissioner Paul Christian Makonda into the country. James Karanja Nyoro has been sworn in as Kiambu County’s third governor. Nyoro was sworn in by Justice John Onyiego after Ferdinand Waititu was successfully ousted from office on Wednesday by the senate. Waititu was facing charges of gross violation of the Constitution and Public Finance Management Act; crimes under the National Law, and abuse of office. A court on Thursday okayed the implementation of the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) also known as Huduma Namba. A three-judge bench compromising of justices Pauline Nyamweya, Mumbi Ngugi and Weldon Korir ruled in favour of the government but noted that the roll-out must be done within a proper regulatory framework. Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has reshuffled his cabinet, again. In a notice on Friday, the county boss who is facing graft charges reinstated Charles Kerich to the Lands docket and Mohammed Dagane to the Roads department. Kerich was ousted in September following the tragic Precious Talent School incident that left several dead and others nursing severe injuries. He was then serving as the county executive for Finance and was the immediate former Lands CEC. Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino is in court seeking to have his bail terms reviewed. He wants the court to grant him an alternative bond in place of the Sh10 million cash bail. The MP claims that the bail is too high and should be slashed. The legislator was released on a Sh10 million cash bail that will be deposited in three instalments over the next three months. High Court judge John Onyiego has declined to swear in James Nyoro as Kiambu governor. Sources have intimated that the judge has was being persuaded by the county commissioner Wilson Wanyanga to swear in the deputy governor. A statement from the Judiciary indicated that the ceremony will be held at a later date. “We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” the statement reads. A Nairobi court has given Education CS Prof George Magoha 30 days to reach a resolution with University of Nairobi (UoN) Vice Chancellor Prof Stephen Kiama Gitahi. A Kenyan man was on Friday found dead at his Missouri home. Jacob Simatwa left for the United States in early 2000s on an athletic sponsorship but has apparently struggled to land a stable job. Former NTV reporter and news anchor Larry Madowo has finally explained his reasons for exiting the Aga Khan IV founded station in 2018. A passenger traveling from Guangzhou, China is quarantined at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). The passenger, according to Kenya Airways, showed symptoms similar to those exhibited by persons infected with coronavirus. “Decision to quarantine the passenger was reached by the Kenya Government port health authorities stationed at JKIA,” the statement reads in part. A Nairobi court on Monday heard that Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho was the complainant in a case in which digital strategist Dennis Itumbi is accused of forging a Deputy President William Ruto assassination letter.
