The dons on Thursday threatened to down tools on January 20 after the government failed to implement a 2019 Collective Bargaining Agreement. Egyptian start-up app-based shuttle service SWVL has launched long distance trips, as the firm seeks growth in new business areas. On Wednesday, the bus hailing firm added Eldoret to its list of routes outside of the capital city. Local retailer Nakumatt Holdings was on Tuesday liquidated following a Tuesday meeting with the creditors including; KCB Group, Standard Chartered Bank, Diamond Trust Bank, suppliers, and landlords. The creditors are owed Sh39 billion by the retailer but will only receive a share of the Sh422 million paid by Naivas for the sale of six Nakumatt branches. Two people have died following a tragic accident along the ever busy Nairobi-Mombasa highway. The Tuesday morning accident involved a semi-trailer and a Nissan Juke. According to Makueni police commander Joseph Ole Napeiyan, the Tarda, Emali incident left five others nursing serious injuries. Embattled Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has named Anne Kananu Mwenda as his deputy governor. This comes two years after his then deputy Polycarp Igathe resigned because he could not “earn the trust” of the county chief. The ministry of Health has denied that ARVs meant for Kenya were shipped to West Africa after the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) demanded to tax the drugs upon arriving at the port of Mombasa. The Sh3.3 billion drugs, the ministry said, are procured by the President’s Emergency Fund for AIDs Relief and are exempted from tax. “No single dose of ARV procured by the President’s Emergency Fund for AIDs Relief (PEPFAR) through USAID for Kenya, has been diverted to any other country due to non-payment of taxes imposed by the government,” MOH said in a statement. According to the firebrand, the Mercedes Benz was seized at around 12.30pm by at least five men.
