Republican politician, Senator John McCain passed away at his home in Arizona after losing a battle to brain cancer on Saturday evening. “Senator John Sidney McCain III died at 4:28pm on August 25, 2018. With the senator when he passed were his wife Cindy and their family,” his office said in a statement. Senator McCain was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, in July 2017 and has been undergoing treatment since then. Police on Saturday arrested four people who are suspected to be conning Kenyans in the name of government tenders. The four men were arrested after presenting fake documents promising to get the complainant a Sh65 million tender to construct an administration block for a school in Sultan Hamud. The first African Secretary General to the United Nations , Kofi Annan will receive a state burial on 13 September in Accra, Ghana. Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has met with retired President, Daniel Arap Moi at his Kabarak home on Saturday morning. Also present at the meeting was the former President’s son, Gideon Moi. EACC detectives on Saturday arrested Parklands MCA Jahendra Malde for demanding a Sh5.7 million bribe from Concord Hotel owner. The bribe was meant to hep stop the demolition of the multi million shilling hotel in Nairobi’s Westlands area. Two female MCAs from Murang’a county have been suspended from house proceedings due to breach of regulations. The MCAs, Catherine Wanjiku and Wambui Njoki were suspended on different grounds by the Power and Privileges Committee backed by majority of the assembly. Catherine Wanjiku was suspended for allegedly storming the office pf the majority leader Eric Kamande and hurling insults at him on August 2. The Energy Regulatory Commission on Friday raided an unlicensed liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) plant at Webuye in Bungoma County. Twelve suspects were arrested during the raid and assorted LPG cylinders seized. The raid was carried out in conjuction with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and General Service Unit This was done in an effort to curb: the importation and sale of substandard LPG’s, operation of illegal LPG plants, illegal filling and sale of substandard LPG and filling of counterfeit LPG’s. DPP Noordin Haji has directed the DCI to immediately arrest of six people; one businessman and five Nairobi county officers. The six are accused of irregularly awarding tenders and payments at the county assembly. According to the DPP investigations revealed that Primara Ventures, owned by Raphael Mwinzi Maluki was irregularly awarded a Ksh.997,926 tender for the supply of books to the Nairobi County Assembly Resource Center. Police are holding a car belonging to former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero over what they say is tax evasion.
