The Energy Regulatory Commission on Friday raided an unlicensed liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) plant at Webuye in Bungoma County.

Twelve suspects were arrested during the raid and assorted LPG cylinders seized.

The raid was carried out in conjuction with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and General Service Unit

This was done in an effort to curb: the importation and sale of substandard LPG’s, operation of illegal LPG plants, illegal filling and sale of substandard LPG and filling of counterfeit LPG’s.

ERC has vowed to intensify surveillance around the country in order to prevent operation and sale of illegal LPG’s.

The twelve suspects will be charged and arraigned in Court.
