The Activist filed a petition to stop the implementation of the new bill citing that it did not follow due procedures. Former Miss Tanzania, and Diamond Platnumz ex-girlfriend Wema Sepetu was on Friday sentenced to one year in jail for possession and abuse of drugs. The Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court in Dar Es Salaam ruled that Wema was to be sentenced to one year of prison or pay a fine of TSh. 2,000,000 [KSh. 87, 676] for the two crimes. Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has proposed to turn Gikomba market into a modern state-of-the-art market with 5 floors and 525 stalls. Sonko says the county will collaborate with the national government to turn East Africa’s biggest open air market into a high-rise business centre that will accommodate all its current traders. “The Nairobi City County Government will work together with the State Department of Housing, Urban Development and Public Works to ensure the building complies with all the safety and environment regulations,” the governor said. Consumer Federation of Kenya (COFEK) on Friday had its Twitter account suspended. The recent Twitter purge has hit many users whose follower accounts Twitter could not confirm whether the original person who opened the account still has control and access to it. According to Twitter, most of the accounts that they suspend are suspended because they are spammy, or just plain fake, and they introduce security risks for Twitter and all of the social media tool users. A Kenyan woman, identified as Evelyn Misumi was arrested in Texas on Wednesday after she tried to rob a Bank of America branch in Texas armed with a hammer, gasoline & lighter fluid. According to witnesses, Evelyn poured gasoline and lighter fluid in the bank’s lobby and started demanding cash from the tellers while waving the hammer. A Traffic police officer was caught in the act of taking a bribe after he arrested a motorist along Lunga Lunga road. The officer is said to have impounded the motorist’s car claiming that it was unroadworthy. The unidentified officer asked the motorist to drive to Industrial Area Police Station but on the way took a detour to a hotel. Governor Mike Sonko released evidence showing that the contested Drive-in primary school, Ruaraka High School and the GSU land belongs to the public. The Governor released documents proving that the land was bought by the government. Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba will remain out of office for three months after the Employment and Labour Relations Court declined to lift the suspension. Unilever Tea Kenya has illegal immigrants working at the organization, an insider source has told Kahawa Tungu. According to a source who sought anonymity, there are at least seven immigrants of Indian descent working ordinary jobs that Kenyans can take up any day. The seven are reportedly working as Green Leaf verification clerks while others are assigned field assistant jobs. Evans Omondi was shot in the chest at around 9 pm by an unidentified man. Nairobi DCI boss Ireri Kamwende confirmed the incident but indicated that the motive was still unclear as nothing was taken.
