An accident occurred after a Buscar bus which was travelling from Nairobi collided with a lorry coming from Mombasa before bursting into flames. 9 people died on the spot and 20 others injured in the road accident which occurred at Civicon area, near Emali, Makueni County. Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has been arrested in Nairobi. The governor who is being accused of corruption and abuse of office is currently at the EACC offices, Integrity Centre. But Ojaamong says that he presented himself to the EACC, who he says are on a political witch-hunt. “Presented myself to EACC Integrity Centre, Soon we will be Vindicated. Embu Communications officer Mutugi Njue and Hansard reporter Daizy Rutere have been suspended for allegedly revealing MCAs Sh.11m gym subscription budget. The county assembly service board relieved the two employees of their duties following reports that they had leaked crucial information on an expenditure in this year’s budget report. Leading Photo-sharing social network Instagram has followed Facebook’s lead and has now quietly launched ‘Instagram Lite’ app for Android, in a bid to attract more users in developing countries with slow internet connectivity. The Facebook-owned social network hasn’t officially announced the Lite app for Android but it is now available on Google Play Store. A man has dragged to court Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and Beta Healthcare over fake condoms which he claims burst during intercourse, after which he contracted a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI). The man has told the court that he bought his favourite Zoom scented condoms because he believed they would protect him and his partner from diseases. Zimbabwe National Rugby team, Sables players, were forced to spend their night on Tunis streets in Tunisia in protest of their poor accommodation and lack of proper pay. The players were frustrated for being booked into sub standard hotel after spending more than 6 hours at the Carthage International Airport where they were unable to pay €20 (Ksh2300) visa fee per player which had initially been waivered. Another female student was defiled within the school premises on Friday at 2 am. Kenyan writer, Makena Onjerika has won the 2018 Caine Prize for African writing for her short story titled “Fanta Blackcurrant.” Ms Makena was among the 5 shortlisted finalists who include Nonyelum Ekwempu (Nigeria), Wole Talabi (Nigeria), Olufunke Ogundimu (Nigeria) and Stacy Hardy (South Africa). Noordin Haji, the Director of Public Prosecutions has approved the prosecution of Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong’ and nine other county officials for the loss of Sh.20 million. The officials, Haji says will face charges of abuse of office and flouting procurement procedures. Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) investigators found that the county boss’ office had single sourced a waste management tender to Madam R Limited. Two fake car dealers were on Sunday arrested for conning unsuspecting Kenyans of millions of shillings using their social media accounts; City Importers,City Importers Limited & Direct Importers on Facebook. The duo is believed to be part of a larger criminal gang pretending to be car dealers. Silale Ward MCA, Nelson Lotela, has been found in Sobea, Nakuru County, safe and alive after going missing on Sunday evening.
