Galleria Shopping Mall owners want the struggling Nakumatt supermarket evicted from its premises over rent arrears amounting to a whooping Sh107 million. High Court Judge, Joseph Karanja nullified the election following a petition filed by former Kasipul MP, Oyugi Magwanga. Feature phones also known as ‘dumb-phones’ dominated the mobile phone market share in 2017. They have basic functionalities such as voice calling and text messaging but have basic internet and multimedia capabilities. Garissa Town MP and National Assembly majority leader, Aden Duale wants senate ICT committee chairperson, Gideon Moi to step down. Nandi Hills MP, Alfred Keter has been charged with 11 counts related to forgery, making a false document, conspiracy to defraud the Central Bank of Kenya. An inferno has left hundreds homeless in Nairobi’s Mathare area. The Saturday afternoon fire broke out Juja Road near the Oil Libya petrol station. Residents tried putting out the quickly spreading fire before two Nairobi County fire engines arrived. Fire fighters had a hard time accessing the area due to narrow access roads. The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has announced an increase in the cost of power in the month of February. The Tanzanian government has banned transshipment containers to Zanzibar through the Mombasa port as cases of smuggling goods increase. The directive by the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) could see clearing agents in Mombasa fire some of their employees. A spot check at the port revealed 264 containers destined for Zanzibar were being held. Traders, TRA has directed, can only clear containers already in Mombasa but the ban is still in play.
