There were long queues at City Hall for approximately two hours on Wednesday morning after Safaricom disconnected internet services. According to ICT CEC, Charles Kerich, city hall owes the telecom Sh3.2 million which after talks will be paid in full by 31 January. The internet was restored at 11am after stalling services that have been automated. The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has cancelled KCSE results for 1,205 candidates from the 9 out of 10 centres accused of exam malpractices. Speaking at the KNEC headquarters, Chairman Professor George Magoha said that students from one of the centre’s were cleared of all cheating allegations. Teachers found guilty of having colluded with the students or aided in the cheating will be dealt with by their employer, Teacher Service Commission (TSC), Magoha said. A number of people were injured on Monday night after robbers hijacked and took control of a bus in Nairobi’s Eastlands area. A Double M bus was commandeered by a gun-brandishing gang before being taken through three hours of terror and torture and later dumped in Kariobangi Estate. A Gatundu police officer is in custody after he was accused of defiling a 15 year old girl on Saturday morning. The minor was arrested on Friday and detained at the Gatundu Police Station. The girl, Gatundu OCS, Joshua Nyasimu says, reported the incident on Sunday.
