Direct flights from Kenya to the United States (US) will start in October 2018, Kenya Airways (KQ) has announced. The daily flights between Nairobi and New York will take an estimated 15 hours instead of the 22 hours spent due to layovers. The Tuesday evening power outage was due to a technical hitch emanating from Kenya Power’s transmission system, the company explained. The blackout hit parts of Nairobi, Mount Kenya, Nyanza, Western, Rift Valley and Coast regions. ”A technical hitch emanating from our transmission system has led to the loss of electricity to parts of the country this evening,” Kenya Power’s statement read in part. Case challenging Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s August 8 win has been withdrawn after the petitioners failed to provide evidence before Justice Msagha Mbogholi on Monday. Chinese Communications and Construction Company fired the workers who they say were participating in an ‘illegal’ strike. Kenyans have in the recent weeks been receiving calls from foreign countries only to call back and sometimes listen to an automated message or are redirected to premium numbers. A man challenging Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s win claims that he received threats to his life and those of his family on Saturday. Japheth Muroko asked Justice Msagha Mbogholi to adjourn the case for a day, to enable him record his statement.
