Kenyatta University (KU) has been(Friday, 17th) closed indefinitely following ‘the continuing nationwide lecturers’ strike that has adversely affected academic activities and heightened agitation among the students. In a memo dated 16, November 2017, the students had been asked to vacate premises by 9 am this morning(Friday.) Suspects behind the shooting of Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu’s bodyguard have been positively identified and the pistol used recovered. The two men were apprehended in Nairobi’s Dandora area and another pistol found on them. They are suspected to have shot the DCJ’s bodyguard, Constable Titus Musyoka around Marsabit Plaza on October 24, 2017. The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has ordered that the late Nyeri Governor, Wahome Gakuru’s driver be released on a ‘reasonable police bond.’ The driver, Samuel Kinyanjui was arrested on Wednesday and held at Makuyu police station. He was to set be arraigned in court today (16th November)but is said to have never left the police car that took him there. Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) has suspended studies indefinitely. The institution of higher learning has been shut down indefinitely and students residing in the Juja main campus were advised to vacate premises. The move was caused by unresolved conflict pitting management against students.
