14 year old girl believed to be behind the Moi Girls’ fire that killed 9 students will appear in court on Wednesday morning. The fire was described by the CS Education Fred Matiang’i as arson. Jubilee leaders are an unhappy lot over the latest statement made by NASA leader, Raila Odinga rejecting the IEBC poll date. Odinga rejected the 17 October date proposed by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for the fresh presidential elections. The date is supposed to ensure that the elections do not interfere with the education calendar. Nairobi county’s daily revenue collection has risen from Sh. 7 million to Shs. 38.2 million, Governor Mike Sonko has revealed. The Governor attributed the success to his sting operation at the city hall cash offices where he found 7 million in cash. “I am happy to say that after raiding the cash office and instructed that people pay revenue directly to the bank, collections have improved,” he said. NASA coalition has accused the Jubilee party of setting the date for fresh polls. The IEBC on Monday proposed that the elections be held on the 17 October 2017. Round two of presidential election will be held on 17 October 2017, IEBC has said. According to the electoral body, only Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka, Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto will be on the ballot. A suspect in the murder of IEBC ICT manager Chris Msando has been released by the High Court citing lack of sufficient evidence to detain him. Judge James Wakiaga set Andrew Kiprotich, an accountant at Ken Gen free but ordered him to report to the Director of Criminal Investigations on 2 October 2017. Former Meru Governor, Peter Munya has formally backed Raila Odinga’s presidential bid ahead of the fresh polls as ordered by the Supreme Court on Friday. Munya who doubles up as Party of National Unity (PNU) chairman on Monday said that ‘we must put to an end the culture of stealing elections in Kenya.’ He is throwing his weight behind Odinga who like him accused the IEBC of rigging him out.
