    Spokesperson Charles Owino Promoted In Latest Police Shake Up

    charles owinoPolice Spokesperson, Charles Owino has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General.

    He was among seven senior officers: Joshua Kiplimo Too, Nelson Njiiru, Gerald Mbaabu, Julia Muthama and Nairobi’s head of Traffic Operations, Peter Ndung’u.

     

    Owino has helped redeem the service’s image in times of crisis.

    Early this year, he defended the traffic officers who are known for taking bribes. He said that corruption was not an isolated problem among the officers but a societal vice.

    The National Police Service Commission made the changes on Tuesday.
