A man was arrested in Meru’s Igembe North constituency on Wednesday for forcibly circumcising his young wife on Monday. He is said to have attacked his wife before circumcising her. The wife’s mother described the attack as ‘savage.’ The suspect is being held at Igembe North police post, said area police boss, Peter Kimani confirming the incident. Lawyer PLO Lumumba’s rural home has been secured by the police after workers claimed they had received death threats from unknown people. Four police officers have been deployed to the home in Usigu division, Bondo sub-county. Area OCPD, Paul Kiarie spent the day there looking into the source of the alleged threats. Acting CS Interior and Coordination Ministry, Dr Fred Matiang’i has declared 1 September 2017 a holiday but only for the Muslims. He directed that employers allow Muslims to be away from work for Idd-Ul-Adha. “Employers should allow them to be away from work but for non-Muslims, this will be a normal working day,” he said. A woman was on Wednesday arrested for scamming youths into applying for jobs with Governor Mike Sonko’s ‘Sonko Rescue Team.’ The unidentified woman is said to have sent a Whatsapp message to hundreds of people. The message read: ”If you know any youth in Nbi who is interested in working with Team Sonko as a cleaner kindly inform he/she to register at the County Ward offices immediately. Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru on Wednesday ordered for a special audit into the county’s financial status. Embu Governor, Martin Wambora on Tuesday lost the first round of an ongoing petition case challenging his win.
