The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced that the East African Community (EAC) Customs Bond will be officially implemented from March 23, 2026.

The rollout follows the official launch of the EAC Customs Bond by the EAC Heads of State during the summit held on March 7, 2026.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, KRA said all system upgrades have been completed and the authority is ready for the launch.

“KRA, together with the EAC, will provide all necessary support to ensure smooth implementation. We will also sensitize Customs agents and other stakeholders on the transition and management of the Bond,” the notice read.

The new Customs Bond is expected to streamline trade processes and enhance compliance across the East African region.
