Deputy President William Ruto will not attend Monday’s running mates debate. The DP says that he was never consulted on the matter. Two people are admitted to Mama Lucy hospital after they were allegedly shot by Senator Mike Sonko’s bodyguards. The two suffered bullet injuries in the thigh and arm following a scuffle at Vumilia village in Nairobi’s Outering Road on Sunday. Nairobi DCI chief Ireri Kamwende said police are investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting. Investigations indicate that the two were among hundreds of youth who had attended the senator’s political event. Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe’s wife Grace was injured in what officials called a freak accident as she left the airport with her husband on Saturday following their return from Singapore, state television reported. NASA Presidential candidate, Raila Odinga will only accept defeat on August 8, if all voters are identified through biometrics and Al-Ghurair company does not print presidential ballot papers. Radio journalist Leornard Mbotela is alive, contrary to reports that he died in a road accident on Saturday. Reports by social media bloggers indicated that Mbotela had died. Messages of condolences trickled in after the false news spread. Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko was on Thursday caught on tape making somewhat inflammatory remarks. The gubernatorial candidate on a Jubilee ticket was addressing the crowd at Zimmerman where he was campaigning on his own behalf and that of the president. The Ugandan government wants to remove the age limit for presidential candidates, a senior official said on Friday, a move that would allow Yoweri Museveni to stay in office. The rules were already changed in 2005 to remove a two-term limit that allowed Museveni, now 72 and in his fifth term, to stay on. Under the current constitution, he would be too old to run in the next election, due in 2021. IEBC on Friday told the Court of Appeal that it will not be able to procure presidential ballot papers by August 8 should it uphold a decision terminating its contract with Al Ghurair.
