A NASA parliamentary candidate for Matuga Constituency, Kassim Sawa accidentally shot himself in the lower abdomen on Wednesday. The Amani National Congress(ANC) parliamentary candidate shot himself while at the Moi International Airport. According to Moi International Airport Deputy OCPD, Beatrice Kigalu, the pistol went off while Kassim was handing it over for safekeeping. ”He is a licensed firearm holder. It happened when he was giving out the firearm as required in the security procedures of the facility,” the OCPD noted. Mr Kassim was rushed to Bomu Hospital where he is receiving treatment. NASA senior adviser Salim Lone has said that Raila Odinga will not participate in the presidential debate if its format is not changed. Lone said this in a statement on Wednesday. This comes hours after Raphael Tuju, Jubilee Party’s Secretary General announced President Uhuru Kenyatta will not take part as he was not consulted. The government has through the Police Spokesperson, Charles Owino responded to allegations by Siaya Senator, James Orengo that eight highly trained security officers are being used by the government to trail NASA’s Raila Odinga. Orengo on Tuesday addressed a presser during which he made the allegations. “Yesterday, eight of the 60 officers were released from the field in Wajir to Nairobi. Kajiado Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) politicians David Nkedianye and Elijah Memusi have claimed their lives are in danger following text messages they said were sent by a senior government official. Governor Nkedianye and Memusi, who is Kajiado Central MP, claimed the official sent a message saying they could face “elimination” for being Jubilee’s “stumbling blocks”. Presidential Candidate, Solomon Gichira has asked for the cancellation of the August 8 poll. Gichira, who is running as an independent candidate said that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) was overseeing an unconstitutional electoral process. He went further and asked for the resignation of Chairman, Wafula Chebukati and Ezra Chiloba. Mr Gichira asked that a new team be set up and elections held in two years. Uganda’s Ministry for Public Service has issued what seems to be a tall order to all public servants. According an order issued on Tuesday, all public servants are expected to dress “decently”, and women not to show their cleavage. Aaron Obudho Ochieng’ formerly of Standard Media  is now allegedly seeking an out of court settlement deal. Ochieng, Ktn’s former editor, who was accused of stealing Joy Doreen Biira’s Mercedes Benz (KBY 831K) has apologized to Joy for lying and implicating her in the whole ordeal. A 14-year-old pupil was arrested in Kitale town on Monday for allegedly killing a schoolmate by hitting him on the head with a blunt object. Sammy Sikinga and Musa Achi attend Kimeloi Primary & Secondary School in Kesogon. Trans Nzoia West OCPD Jackson Mwenga said Sikinga was a class eight pupil and Achi a form two student.
