A 31-year-old woman was found dead in her home in Exritive Village, Ngawa Sub-Location, in what police describe as a suspected domestic homicide followed by mob justice.

According to a resident, screaming was heard from the neighbor’s house on the evening of March 10, 2026 and upon investigation, the woman, identified as Mary Nyambura Njoroge, was found lying in a pool of blood inside her bedroom.

She had sustained severe head injuries, and the murder weapon, an axe, was recovered beside her.

Police were called to the scene and moved the body to the mortuary. Hours later the police traced the suspect, Peter Wanyiri Theuri, 46, the husband of the deceased, to Karampton Shopping Centre before enraged members of the public reportedly attacked him, resulting in his death on the spot.

The bodies were transported to Nyahururu Referral Hospital Mortuary for preservation, awaiting postmortem examination.

Authorities have urged the public to allow investigations to proceed through lawful channels and cautioned against taking the law into their own hands.

Elsewhere, a three-year-old child died in Muathe Village, Kituti Sub-Location, following suspected poisoning, while her twin sibling was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

A relative said neighbors alerted her that her grandchildren, both aged three, were vomiting and crying uncontrollably.

The twins’ mother and neighbors quickly rushed them to Ikutha Level 4 Hospital where the girl was pronounced dead on arrival, while the boy was admitted for treatment. The body of the deceased child was transported to Mutomo Morgue pending postmortem examination.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the possibility of poisoning.

And police in Bumula arrested two suspects following the death of Ignatious Wafula Barasa, initially reported as illness-related.

Preliminary investigations, prompted by a tip-off from the public, revealed that two allegedly assaulted the deceased as a form of discipline after he was reportedly drunk and unruly.

The body of the deceased was moved to Bungoma County Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem examination. The suspects remain in police custody pending arraignment before court.

Authorities have appealed to the public to report any acts of violence and allow law enforcement to carry out investigations through proper legal channels.
