The High Court has cleared politician Wavinya Ndeti to vie for the Machakos governor seat. Gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth, who is now running as an independent candidate after losing to Mike Sonko, has accused the senator of rigging him out with the Deputy President’s help. Nyeri town Member of Parliament candidate on a Jubilee party ticket, Ngunjiri Wambugu was over the weekend caught up in what seemed to be a love triangle. The Jubilee candidate denied allegations of being intimately involved with his personal assistant, Julia Wanjiku Kamau. Julia was apparently involved in a fist fight with an unidentified woman at the White Rhino Hotel. Raila Odinga, opposition leader, on Tuesday accused the government of trying to rig the August elections with the help of KDF soldiers. The NASA flag-bearer said that 100 KDF members were deployed to Kakamega county to aid the government in altering the election results. Amani National Congress’ (ANC) Lugari MP Ayub Savula has died after being stabbed 10 times at a pub by rival Orange Democratic Party youths on Monday night. The Law Society of Kenya will hold a week-long campaign to mark a year since human rights lawyer Willie Kimani, his client and taxi driver were murdered. Kimani, who worked with International Justice Mission, was killed alongside boda boda rider Josephat Mwenda and driver Joseph Muiruri on June 23, 2016. Their bodies were found stashed in gunny bags in Ol-Donyo Sabuk River in Machakos on July 1, a week after they were reportedly kidnapped by police. Legislators from the Maasai community on Monday issued the government with a 48 hour ultimatum to state their progress in investigations against NASA leader, Raila Odinga. Led by Kajiado West Mp, Moses Ole Sakuda, the leaders want Raila’s inciting remarks looked into. Nation reporter, Walter Menya was today presented to a Milimani court accompanied by his lawyer, James Orengo and LSK chief executive Apollos Mboya. Walter was arrested on Sunday evening on claims of soliciting a bribe to write a damaging story. He was arrested on undisclosed grounds.
