According to the outfit’s campaign chairman Musalia Mudavadi this “is in respect to the last 10 days of Ramadhan, when Muslims are deeply engaged in the most intensive prayers of the holy month.” The alliance had earlier announced it would launch its manifesto on Monday evening at an invites-only ceremony that was to be beamed live on major television stations from 7pm. A man is said to have committed suicide in Nairobi’s Buruburu area on Sunday after he and his wife had an argument over her phone. According to the wife, the man had used her phone as security for a soft loan from one of the area’s shylock. The couple is said to have engaged in a heated argument before the wife left for the market. She went out for vegetables and upon her return, found him armed with a knife but managed to snatch it from him. The woman is said to have left him alone later in the day.…

Journalists will on Monday protest in a show of solidarity with Nation Media Group journalist Walter Menya who was arrested on Sunday. The protest organised by Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ) will begin outside Nation Centre, Nairobi. KUJ Secretary General Eric Oduor, argued that Menya was set up. “All journalists must come out to say no to intimidation and show solidarity with Walter Menya who was arrested after a setup.” Nation said Menya was arrested following a story he did for the Sunday Nation. At least four people have been killed and a dozen others injured after a public service vehicle they were travelling in was struck by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) mid-morning Friday, June 17 along the El Wak – Lafey road in Mandera County. Confirming the incident, North Eastern Regional Co-ordinator, Ambassador Mahmoud Saleh, said the injured were rushed to Lafey Sub-County Hospital. Kenya Union of Nurses officials on Friday exchanged blows during a live presser addressing the ongoing nurses’ strike. The public address almost turned chaotic after an opposing party led by Maurice Opetu, Secretary General, invaded KNUN’s chair, John Bii. The conjoined twins separated at Kenyatta National Hospital have been released from hospital almost three years after admission. Blessing Kathure and Favour Karimi were admitted to the Specialised Surgical Paediatric Ward on September 5, 2014. The two left for Meru on Thursday, June 15 after they were officially discharged. The two-year-old girls born in 2014 were conjoined at the sacral region of the lower spinal cord. 52-seater AGC Lokichar Secondary school bus overturned between Kabarnet and Iten on Friday, killing three people. Baringo police commander Peter Ndung’u said the three died on the spot in the morning accident.The driver is said to have lost control of the bus that veered off the road and rolled down the 200 metre cliff. Ten casualties, including the driver, are in Intensive Care Unit at Baringo County Referral Hospital. The injured were rushed to the nearby hospital. A woman from Kitui, Kamene Kakai alias Kavivi who was found trying to sell an owl for KSh 250 has received help from journalists from a local radio station, Syokimau Fm.
