Kitui Woman Trying To Sell Owl Receives Help

A woman from Kitui, Kamene Kakai alias Kavivi who was found trying to sell an owl for KSh 250 has received help from journalists from a local radio station, Syokimau Fm.

Kavivi attracted a huge crowd at at Kalundu market on Tuesday, June 13 after walking 15km to try and sell the bird. “I had no choice but to bring it to the market to sell it as I cannot watch my children die of hunger,” she said.

Kamene lives with her brother’s wife who has eight children. They live inside a mud house that has no door, windows or a bed.

Kavivi suffers from epilepsy and has a mental disorder. She has five children but four of them live with her husband.

The good Samaritans donated food stuff and are in the process of acquiring a bed, mattress and doors and windows for her house.
