The treasury could lose Ksh823.7 billion, an amount loaned to 72 state state corporations which have been cash strapped. According to reports by the Nation, Ksh47.52 billion of these loans are non-performing or simply dormant, which have reached maturity. Two robbers were captured on CCTV footage gruesomely killing a bodaboda rider in Uganda, whom they had hired to ferry them. 15 traders at the Burma market were arrested on Friday by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officials for being in possession of 800kg of Zebra meat. The meat was being sold to members of the public in disguise of beef, according to officials. The Ruaraka land where two schools sit is public, and the government through former Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i should not have paid for it, High Court has ruled. Delivering the ruling, High Court Judges Benard eboso, Elijah Obaga and Kossy ber said the National Land Commission (NLC) misled the government in compensating Francis Mburu which led to loss of public funds. “One cannot compulsorily acquire what is already public,” they said. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned 204 individuals and directors of certain companies to record statements concerning fraudulent Kenya Power billing system for post-paid customers. Grade three pupils without birth certificates will not be able to register for grade three national exams to be held in September this year for the Competency-based Curriculum (CBC), authorities have said. According to Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), students will be required to have birth certificate age and ID cards (for those of age) in order to be allowed to register for the national exams. Ksh67.9 billion was lost by the government to undeserving pensioners in the 2012/13 to 2016/17 financial years, auditor general Edward Ouko has revealed. In a report tabled in parliament last week, Ouko says that the fake beneficiaries took advantage of loopholes at the Payment Management Information System (PMIS). Chinese government has approved the loan for the construction of Naivasha-Kisumu Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) line, transport CS James Macharia has confirmed. Car owners in Nairobi will be forced to dig deeper into their pockets to pay parking fees as from July 1, according to new budget deliberations.
