Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) has been temporarily closed down one of its terminals following a night fire. The fire razed terminal 1C on Wednesday night. Confirming the incident, Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) noted that the fire was caused by a baggage-belt-system malfunction. High Court Judge Mumbu Ngugi has on Wednesday afternoon reduced Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal’s bail terms. In a ruling issued on Wednesday afternoon, Justice Ngugi placed the governor’s bail terms at Ksh10 million or a bond of Ksh30million with one surety of a similar amount. The Kenyan government has divulged its plans to acquire a third Eurobond to aid in paying off its previous loans. Speaking on this plan, Treasury Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge noted that the borrowing is in line with the government foreign borrowing plans for the current financial year to meet the budget deficit. Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich is now seeking the approval of Members of Parliament (MPs) to regularise Ksh3.5 billion payments for Kimwarer Dam project. The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) director Ezekiel Mutua has declined a request to have Rafiki, a gay-themed film to be played in court during the hearing of a case. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested 17 suspected members of the outlawed Mombasa Republican Council (MRC). The 17 were arrested in a house in Diani, Kwale County. “The suspects were arrested as they assembled at a house in Kibundani area,” DCI revealed. Speaking on the arrests, the DCI noted that the suspects were aged between 41 and 84 years. Kagunduini Member of County Assembly (MCA) Peter Mburu Wamuthoni has been freed on a bond of Ksh1.5 million. Three Court of Appeal judges, Wanjiru Karanja, Alnasir Visram and Martha Koome, in Mombasa have withdrawn from a case challenging the management of the Mombasa Port. The Mombasa judges recused themselves from the case following an application that called for their withdrawal on grounds that the county government was dissatisfied with their previous ruling.
