Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia has revealed that the Kenyan government will not be able to provide lawyers to the families of Ethiopian Airlines crash victims. The government has sent a team of experts to Cuba to investigate the exchange programme of Kenyan doctors on scholarship in the Caribbean nation. This was after one of the beneficiaries of the exchange program, Ali Juma, allegedly committed suicide last Sunday under unclear circumstances. He was among 50 other Kenyan medical practitioners who were in Cuba undertaking a training programme on family medicine in the Carribean nation, sponsored by the government. Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has announced that together with his Sonko Rescue Team, they will be transporting food items to the Turkana region. The government has revealed that it is seeking another loan of Ksh368 billion to help in the completion of the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR). Speaking on the loan sought for by the government, China’s Chargé d’affaires Li Xuhang stated that the money would be granted to the government in form of concessional and hard loans. A dormitory at St Joseph’s Girls High School, Kitale came under fire at mid-day on Wednesday destroying property whose value is yet to be determined. This was after another fire razed down a different dormitory on Tuesday night that left a number of students hospitalized. A total of 10 students were reported to have been admitted at the Kitale Referal Hospital after the night incident while 31 others were briefly admitted after inhaling heavy smoke. The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has filed an appeal on the bond terms given to former National Land Commission chairman Muhammad Swazuri. The application filed by the DPP on Monday, seeks to have the court cancel the bond terms. The office of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has ,through its detectives, been able to reclaim 48 vehicles bought with the Ksh21 billion dam projects money in Elgeyo Marakwet.
