Members of the National Assembly (MPs) have summoned State House Comptroller Kinuthia Mbugua over Ksh2.7 billion expenditures at the presidency. Mr Mbugua was summoned to answer audit questions that were raised by the Auditor General over the billions spent at the presidency from 2013 to 2016. Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives have raided the homes of Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulala over Ksh2 billion scandal. The officers raided his Nairobi and Samburu homes in an alleged hunt to get documents showing the expenditure of the embezzled money. President Uhuru Kenyatta has nominated Eliud Kinuthia as the chairman of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC). Mr Kinuthia replaces the former chairman, Johnston Kavuludi. Newton Chebii, a General Service Unit (GSU) Recce officer, who lost his job in 2016 has finally been reinstated to his position. The officer was fired for taking on Law degree classes at Strathmore without informing his superiors at the police headquarters. County Government of Nakuru has employed new recruits to replace the hundreds of striking nurses. Speaking during an interview, Nakuru level 5 Hospital medical superintendent, Joseph Mburu, confirmed that the county has contracted 192 nurses to help in the provision of medical services to those in need. According to Dr Mburu, the nurses who have been employed aren’t entirely new as most of them were working under contracts with either the county governments or the national government, while others were interns. Uber Chap Chap drivers have been accused of defrauding customers by overcharging them on rides taken. According to an exposé done by a local daily, the Uber drivers have been charging their customers with the more expensive UberX rates. Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i on Monday pledged to settle former international athlete Nyantika Maiyoro’s hospital bills. The stranded legendary athlete had been admitted at a health facility after he had complained of chest pains for almost three months. Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko last night, Monday, went to Kenyatta National Hospital to secure the release of a woman and her baby who were being held at the facility over a Ksh56,000 bill.
