So Sakata has just ended. And it had to target the young people. So the last leg had these young men in 7 groups. I liked the energy and investment they took in putting together great attire, choreography and even time off their other assignment in school to compete in Sakata. Then the Royal media had just to award the Prize to one group and leave others with nothing. Damn!! Why was this promotion being run? To exploit our young people. I hate seeing our brothers and sisters being used this much. I love the fact that the Royal Media…

So Multichoice decided to ban Gor from their screens. The South African neo-colonialism channel claims that it banned Gor Mahia matches because of the behaviour of the fans. That is the most stupid claim of the TV broadcaster that you can ever hear of. Which great football club fans are not passionate abou their team? Manchester, Barcelona, inter Milan, Ajax, Bayern or which one? Why are Gor fans being purnished for being passionate about their team. It is foolish for Supersport to think that they are a kid of God that if they dont screen the Gor Matches then soon…

VCs, Bloggers, Researchers, Tech Evangelists and others with interests in tech have touted the country as a must watch in the industry. The truth is that you cannot talk of serious use of tech, social media and web 2.0 in a manner which can easily be documented outside Nairobi. So while travelling to various parts of Kenya, we have tried to ask why the techies are getting it hard to even make the various counties tech communities active. Mombasa tied and we…

When the media were calling to ask for more information about the reports appearing on the ET website, they were reffered to the PR agency, Y&R, which did not have much info apart from copy pasting response which they believed came from Essar India officials. So Daily Nation, NTV, KTN, Citizen, Capital and blogs went ahead and reported majorly on the possibility of Essar Kenya changing hands soon. A few calls here and there confirmed that Essar approached MTN and Bharti offering to be acquired for around $300 Million. The reports on ET were also credible considering the sale of…

The current techie has a large baggage. Ugandans are not ready to be left behind. With input from the professionals from Makerere University and around Kampala, the company has activated for various tech events to attract next generation innovators. The last event was last weekend where Android Developers and enthusiasts met at Hive Collab and engaged on a marathon hacking mission, hackathon. The target was never CIA, Uganda police or any such servers. The hacking target was the many challenges in life whose solutions are not there or still involve many archaic methods. So the Android Developers were trying to convince the 17 plus attendees why their…

So after blogging about the Pivot25 con men we were called names and declared all sorts of things. We even had few people looking for followers and some free folders, notebooks, tickets and mulika mwizi phones declared war on us just to go with the flow. Even fake Twitter accounts were opened. The accounts were immediately closed for going against the Twitter TOS. Fumbling here and there in the name of blog posts also were witnessed. But we were looking for something like from Kachwanya. We try so hard to get our facts right and we might not be perfect…

There are reports appearing on the website of a fairly respected Indian Financial Magazine, Economic Times of India, that Essar Kenya (yu) is looking for a buyer of its Kenyan operations. This move might have been expected considering the fact that Essar sold its 33% stake in Vodafone Essar to Vodafone UK. According to the article, the company does not view telecom as strategic anymore and consider exiting the business altogether to concentrate on steel business. The group had previously struck a deal for majority stake in Warid Telecom’s operations in Uganda and Congo in November 2009 valued at $318…

Kibaki went crazy sometime last week and issued an order which basically takes the country to some dark ages of roadside declarations which are not informed by any sense. It was a shock that when Kenyans wanted price controls over basic commodities, it is Kibaki who refuse to accent to a bill which was dully passed in parliament arguing that the market has its own forces. The same President played to the tune of two mobile phone operators and basically tied a rope on the neck of the Kenyan cellphone users giving very pedestrian reason why he had to issue…
