Kenya Data Networks (KDN) is expanding and making its network better. The “carrier-of-carriers”, as it wants to be refered, has contracted ECI Telecom, a global provider of network infrastructure, to upgrade its network. The upgrade deal worth Sh320M ($4M) will see the completion of all fibre rings for continuity and full redundancy on all KDN networks. Huawei is set to sign an MOU with University of Nairobi and JKUAT to open its Nairobi training centre to Telecommunications Engineering students from the two universities. Google through its official blog has come out to alert its users of the various security threats it iss facing. Among the threats highlighted are the phishing attacks which it says originate from Jinan, China. Porting Access Kenya is challenging the the accusations leveled against it by Safaricom in the MNP related suit filed in Nairobi High Court. According to media reports, Porting Access filed a notice of objection on Monday in the courts arguing that there are means of arbitrations spelled out in the CCK regulations guiding the whole porting process. Uganda’s High Court has summoned Airtel Uganda after complaints were lodged over one of the billboards erected in Kampala which reads “Airtel Cleaner than the Rubaga Bell” . Many Catholics were not pleased with the wordings on the billboard since Rubaga Bell is an ancient church bell in the Rubaga Cathedral in Kampala.
