The Government of Kenya has unveiled plans to partially sell its shareholding in Safaricom in a move aimed at unlocking capital for national development while reducing reliance on debt financing. Detectives are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in the toilet of a supermarket in Kakamega Town. Police said the body of Sabina Moraa was found in the toilet of Khetias Supermarket shortly after her death on Wednesday. She had been supplying pesticide merchandise to the supermarket in the town. The body of Saringe ole Gee, 40, was found with deep visible wounds in the head hours after his murder in the Weitemere area, Kamae, police said. An attempt by a man to remove a jerrycan from a borehole turned tragic when he fatally fell in there in Kapsabet, Nandi County. Police said Geoffrey Mutai had ventured into the family borehole on Wednesday to recover a jerrycan they had been using to fetch water when the incident happened. The jerrycan had accidentally fallen into a 50-foot-deep borehole, which forced Mutai to try to retrieve it. He then slid and fell into the borehole, fatally, locals and police said. Police in Meru County have arrested six men suspected of being part of a group that raped a young woman during a traditional circumcision procession in Laare Town, Igembe North Sub-County.
