A woman aged 18 was stabbed and killed in a domestic fight in Namanga, Kajiado County.
Police said they arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the murder of the woman, who was his girlfriend, following a domestic dispute.
Police said the incident occurred on the night of April 20, 2026, at around 9:15 p.m. The victim, identified as Samande Sikambe, was allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend, who stabbed her on the left side of the ribs using a sword, police said.
Police visited the scene and established that the injured woman had initially been rushed to Namanga Health Centre before being referred to Kajiado County Referral Hospital for specialised treatment. She later succumbed to her injuries while receiving care.
The suspected murder weapon was recovered from the scene. The suspect was re-arrested by police after members of the public had restrained him. Cases of domestic disputes that turned fatal have been on the rise amid efforts to address them.
And police in Kitui County are investigating murder after the body of an unidentified woman was discovered dumped in a bush on the outskirts of Kitui Town.
The body was found in a bushy area north of Kalundu Market by a herder who had gone to retrieve a stray cow on Monday afternoon, police said.
Preliminary findings indicate that the woman’s body was found naked, with visible injuries on the right side of the head and a fractured right elbow, suggesting she may have been assaulted before being killed.
Police also recovered a mobile phone at the scene, which investigators believe could be crucial in identifying the victim or tracing those responsible.
The body was moved to the Kitui County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it awaits postmortem examination and formal identification.
Authorities have appealed to members of the public with missing persons reports or any relevant information to come forward as investigations into the suspected murder continue.
Murder incidents have been on the rise amid efforts to solve them, police statistics show.
Most of the incidents are linked to love triangles and land disputes.
