Detectives are investigating an incident where a mechanic was found murdered and his body dumped in a trench in Nakuru’s Rhonda area. Police said the body of Martin Kipanga, 31, was discovered on Wednesday in a trench long after he had died. The body had two stab wounds in the stomach and chest. Two men drowned while swimming in the River Perkerra, Baringo County. Police said one of the men was trying to rescue his colleague from the swollen river when he drowned on January 20, 2026. The Kenya Revenue Authority exceeded its revenue targets for December 2025, posting strong growth as it begins the second half of the 2025/26 financial year. The tax agency also recorded its highest-ever monthly customs collection, driven largely by oil and non-oil import taxes. A statement said KRA collected Sh307.6 billion in December against a target of Sh285 billion representing 29 per cent increase compared to the same period in the previous financial year. NCBA Group announced Wednesday that it has received a strategic investment proposal and a Notice of Intention from South Africa’s Nedbank Group Limited to acquire approximately 66 per cent of NCBA’s ordinary shares through a tender offer, a move that would see the Kenyan lender become a subsidiary of Nedbank. The civil society organization Sheria Mtaani, has filed an urgent application before the Environment and Land Court in Nairobi seeking to compel the government to implement a Cabinet decision that waived interest and penalties on land loans for low-income settlers across the country.
