A passenger who was headed from Somalia to Nairobi died on the plane after a suspected illness. Officials said Adan Mohamed Hassan, 93 was found unresponsive on his seat on May 9 in the evening as the plane touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and was taxing. At least two workers were killed when the wall of a house under construction collapsed on them in Nairobi’s Parklands area. The wall had been constructed to form part of the basement of the structure along Suswa Road when the incident happened. Police blamed the rains that were experienced in the area on Saturday for the incident. Other officials said the wall was built on the beacons of the land, endangering other neighbours. More than a dozen passengers were injured when a bus they were traveling in headed for Nairobi overturned in Kimende area, Limuru, Kiambu County. Police and witnesses said the Nairobi-bound bus overturned at the Kimende hotspot on the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway on Sunday May 11 morning. The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) Law Courts Friday allowed police to detain five suspects for 20 days pending probe into their involvement in the murder of Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Were. Magistrate Irene Gichobi had dismissed an application filed by the five suspects seeking to challenge the court’s jurisdiction in the case. Donald Trump has ordered the Department of Homeland Security to add at least 20,000 officers to enforce his deportation policies. The founder of the Kwik Fit garage chain, Sir Tom Farmer, has died at the age of 84. The Edinburgh-born businessman died peacefully at his home in the city on Friday, his family said. Gunmen shot dead at least 30 travellers in an attack in Nigeria’s southeastern Imo state, Amnesty International said on Friday, raising fresh concerns about violence in a region rife with insecurity. More than 20 vehicles and trucks were set ablaze by the attackers, who were suspected to be members of the banned separatist Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Amnesty said in a post on X. A fire broke out at the Mombasa Water Supply and Sanitation Company offices destroying property. The incident happened Saturday May 10, 2025 at night.
