A 48-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing and killing his 24-year-old son in Mosobecho village, Nandi County. Kenneth Kipkoech, 24 died at the Kapsabet Referral Hospital on Saturday August 31 evening while being attended to. He had been stabbed in the chest and succumbed to the injuries due to profuse bleeding, police and his family said. The father and son had argued leading to a physical confrontation that turned tragic, police said. It is not clear what prompted the fight. At least 12 people were killed in a gruesome accident involving a van and a pickup truck at the infamous Nithi Bridge along the Meru-Nairobi road on Saturday night. Police and witnesses said the August 31 accident involved a Nairobi-bound hired private Toyota Hiace and a Toyota Hilux driven toward Chogoria. There was scare in Nairobi’s Ngara area on Sunday September 1 morning following a fire incident that affected a gas supply station. The fire caused explosions as gas cylinders packed at the station went up in flames and exploded. Police said there was no injury that was reported in the morning incident. Nairobi Regional Police Commander Adamson Bungei who visited the scene said property of unknown value was destroyed. A court ordered City Hall officer to pay Sh198 million as costs for questionable sources of wealth.  This was a score for Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC). In May 2023, High Court froze the assets belonging to Michael Auka Ajwang, a Nairobi County Purchasing Officer, after he failed justify the source of the unexplained wealth. Three individuals were arrested after they scammed two foreign nationals of Sh340 million in a fake gold scam deal. The scam started in June, 2022 when Mr Marco Colombo Conti, a business associate of Mr Satbinder Singh, travelled to Kenya with the intention of buying 100 kilograms of gold from Mr Allain Mwadia Nvita. For a start, Mr Marco paid about USD400,000 in duty and other charges through a law firm in the name of Squire AfriLaw Consult Limited. Three men were arrested in a probe into a fake Sh116 scrap metal deal.   Abdul Razak Rehan, Mohammed Amin Suleiman, and Ebrahim Ahmed Ebrahim were arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts for orchestrating a fraudulent scheme that duped a Pakistani national over Sh116 million. The trio masterminded a scrap metal and car battery syndicate, enticing the unsuspecting victim to Kenya with promises of lucrative business opportunities in the sector. President Biden announced late Saturday that the bodies of six Hamas-held hostages were recovered by Israeli forces in a tunnel under the Gaza city of Rafah, including that of Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin.   “I am devastated and outraged,” Mr. Biden said. “Hersh was among the innocents brutally attacked while attending a music festival for peace in Israel on October 7. US rapper Fatman Scoop has died aged 53 after collapsing at concert on Friday in Connecticut, his representative has told the BBC.  He was halfway through his set at the Town Center Park in the city of Hamden when he collapsed on stage. Aviation workers Saturday called off their strike that was scheduled to start on Sunday September 1.  The Kenya Aviation Workers Union (KAWU) announced the delay of the strike for a further seven days to enable them to read the documents presented to them by the government on the Adani deal. A tragic road accident has killed a nine-month-old baby and left 19 others with injuries. The fatal accident occurred on Saturday morning at approximately 8:00 AM along the Kilifi-Malindi road near Matsangoni. The accident involved a Scania bus with registration number KCF 444Z, owned by Bus Car Company, and driven by Shaban Okumu. The US says its military forces in Iraq have killed 15 Islamic State (IS) “operatives” in a joint operation with Iraqi Security Forces that targeted the militant group’s leadership. US Central Command (Centcom) said it had performed the joint operation in western Iraq early on Thursday. President Volodymyr Zelensky has sacked the commander of Ukraine’s air force amid debate over the destruction of one of the country’s valuable new F-16 fighter jets.  Mr Zelensky did not specify the reason for dismissing Lt Gen Mykola Oleshchuk, but said he had a responsibility to “take care of all our warriors”.
