A man died and two others have been injured in a knife and hammer attack on a street in central Paris. France’s Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said an attacker had targeted tourists around the Quai de Grenelle, which is close to the Eiffel Tower. At least four workers were Saturday killed when a building under construction collapsed in Nairobi’s Eastleigh area.  The incident happened along Muratina Road Saturday afternoon as the workers were busy on site, police and witnesses said. Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said four workers were killed on the spot. He added six others were injured and rushed to hospitals. Bungei said they are investigating the incident. Rescuers rushed to the scene and used bare hands in rescuing those trapped. This is the latest such incident to happen in the city. A British soldier died Wednesday while off duty in Kenya, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said. Officials said 32-year-old Maj Kevin McCool was on a motorcycle trip off base when he was attacked. The precise circumstances of the attack remain unknown. Kenya police said they are investigating the incident. The United Nations Security Council unanimously voted on Friday to remove the final restrictions on weapons deliveries to Somalia’s government and its security forces, more than 30 years after an arms embargo was first imposed on the country. A section of residents of Nyacaba and Witeithie villages in Juja, Kiambu County blocked police officers from collecting the body of a middle-aged woman who was mauled to death by a pack of hyenas.  The drama broke out on Saturday December 2, 2023 morning hours after the remains of the woman had been found. The woman is said to have been walking from Nyacaba area to Ndarugu for work when she was attacked. A Peruvian environmental activist has been shot dead after receiving death threats for his battle to defend the Amazon rainforest, officials say. Quinto Inuma, a leader of the Kichwa community, was killed in a remote part of the northern region of San Martin. At least five people were Saturday morning killed in an accident at Londiani area along the Molo-Kericho highway. The deceased persons, four men and a child, were aboard a 14-seater matatu which collided head-on with a trailer at the notorious accident black spot at around 3:30 am. National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) officials got more powers in their campaign following a new move by interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki.  This is in regard to enforcement of the Alcoholic Drinks Control Act (ADCA), 2010, as well as the NACADA Act, 2012. A Malindi Court has sentenced suspected cult leader Paul MacKenzie to 12 months behind bars  for operating a filming studio without a valid license. Mackenzie who is also believed to be behind the Shakahola massacre, was further slapped with another six-month jail term for being in possession and exhibition of films to the public through Times TV without an operating license.
